Intermezzo: Trans Swiss Trail, Porrentruy-St Ursanne, 17km (31 Oktober 2021)

 

Als tussendoortje voor de weekends dus een paar etappes van de Trans Swiss Trail zolang er niet all te veel sneeuw ligt. Op de middag van de laatste dag in Oktober dus de  17 kilometer van Porrentruy naar St Ursanne. Ik ben, als ik om 12:30 de trein naar Porrentruy neem aan de late kant. Vannacht is ook de wintertijd weer in gegaan. Ik kom om 10 minuten voor twee in Porrentruy aan en om 18:00 is het echt wel donker. De wandeltijd staat als 4:45 te boek. Ik moet dus wat sneller lopen dan de planning. 

Natuurlijk verloop ik mij meteen in de binnenstad van Porrentruy. Natuurlijk. Maar wat een heerlijk weer hier. De zon staat te stralen aan de blauwe hemel en het is zeker een graad of 20. Nadat ik de stad achter mij heb gelaten loop ik al snell door het bos waar overal vlaggetjes staan van een event. www.mont-terrible.ch. Op verschillende plaatsen is het aardig modderig maat ik kom goed voorwaarts zonder te kort te komen wanneer het om het genieten van de herfstkleuren en de uitzichten gaat. Richting het noorden kunnen de Vogezen worden bewonderd en aan de andere kant gaat het stijl naar beneden in de canyon van de Doubs. In het laatste avond licht kom ik even voor 18:00 in St Ursanne aan. Vanwege Tousaint liggen er pompoenen bij de stadspoort. Uiteindelijk vind ik het station en ben om 20:00 weer thuis.

 

As a snack for the weekends, a few stages of the Trans Swiss Trail as long as there is not too much snow. On the afternoon of the last day in October, the 17 kilometers from Porrentruy to St Ursanne. I am late when I catch the train to Porrentruy at 12:30 pm. Tonight the winter time started again. I arrive in Porrentruy at 10 minutes to two and at 6:00 pm it is really dark. Of course I immediately get lost in the city center of Porrentruy. Of course. But what a lovely weather here. The sun is shining in the blue sky and it is certainly about 20 degrees. After I have left the city behind me, I quickly walk through the forest where little flags of an event are everywhere. www.mont-terrible.ch. It is quite muddy in several places but I am making good progress without falling short when it comes to enjoying the autumn colors and the views. To the north, the Vosges can be admired and on the other side it descends steeply into the canyon of the Doubs. In the last evening light I arrive in St Ursanne just before 18:00. Because of All Saints, there are pumpkins at the city gate. Finally I find the station and am home at 20:00.

Montfaucon-Le Puy en Velay, 55 km (8 -12 Oktober 2021)

 

Vrijdag / Friday 8 Oktober 2021

Om 23:45 spring ik op de fiets om de laatste rail-moglijkheid met beide handen aan te pakken om naar Geneve te komen. Op tijd om daar de 5:14 trein naar Lyon en verder naar St Etienne te nemen. Dat allemaal om de enige bus van St Etienne naar Montfaucon op zaterdag te halen die om 10:15 vertrekt. Het lukt allemaal en bovendien beleef ik Geneve 's nachts. Ik kom om 2:25 aan en de aansluitende trein gaat zoals gezegd om 5:14. De douaniers halen om 5:20 de poort van het slot.

At 23:45 I hop on my bike to grab with both hands the last rail opportunity to get to Geneva. In time to catch the 5:14 train to Lyon and on to St Etienne. All this to catch the only bus from St Etienne to Montfaucon on Saturday which leaves at 10:15 am. It all works and moreover I experience Geneva at night. I arrive at 2:25 and the connecting train leaves at 5:14 as mentioned. The customs officers unlock the gate at 5:20 am.

Door de doorleefde nacht gaat het allemaal slepend. Natuurlijk helpen de voorraden en de 6 liter vloeistof ook niet. Net voor Pouzols in een bosje val ik al zittende op een boomstronk bijna in slaap. Het is pas een uur of 5 's middags. De hele dag was weliswaar droog maar grauw, donker en koud. Ik besluit in het bos een beschut plekje te zoeken voor de tent op het mos. Om 6 uur gaan de luiken dicht. Om een uur of 10 knalt en schittert het dat het een lieve lust is. Ik zit rechtop in mijn tentje. Ik dacht dat 14 Juli allang voorbij was?   

It all drags on a bit because of the sleepless night. Of course, the supplies and the 6 liters of liquid don't help either. Just before Pouzols in a forest I almost fall asleep sitting on a tree stump. It is only about 5 o'clock in the afternoon., The whole day was dry, but gray, dark and cold. I decide to look for a sheltered spot in the forest for the tent on the moss. At 6 o'clock the shutters close. At about 10 o'clock it pops and sparkles that it is a delight. I sit upright in my tent. I thought July 14 was long gone?

Pouzols - Eynac, 24 Km (10 Oktober 2021)

Vroeg breek ik mijn tentje af. Ik heb goed geslapen. Flux gaat het verder naar St Jeures door het rollende landschap van de Auvergne. Hier en daar duiken nu ook de vulkaankegels op. Echt een schitterend landschap.

I break down my tent early. I slept well. Quickly I continue to St Jeures through the rolling countryside of the  Auvergne. Here and there the volcanic cones are also appearing. Truly a beautiful landscape.

St Jeures

 De dag begint weliswaar grauw maar naarmate we naar de pas over het Masif de Meygal klimmen wordt het zonniger. Maar erg warm is het niet. Aan de andere kant van de pas is het dan zon en blauwe lucht. Heerlijk lopen. Snel passer ik ook het volgende etappe plaatje St Julien Chapteuil.

The day does start off gray, but as we climb to the pass over the Masif de Meygal it gets sunnier. But it is not very warm. On the other side of the pass it is sun and blue sky. Lovely walk. I quickly pass the next stage picture St Julien Chapteuil.

Eynac

 Achter le Roche de Eynac sla ik mijn kamp op achter een bouwval naast een bruggetje over de rivier. Het landschap doet meer aan Canada denken dan aan Frankrijk. Zo ook de nachtelijke kou. Ik lig met alles wat ik heb aan kleding heb in mijn slaapzak. 

Behind le Roche de Eynac I set up camp behind a ruin next to a bridge over the river. The landscape is more reminiscent of Canada than of France. So is the nighttime cold. I lie with everything I have of clothes in my sleeping bag.

Eynac -Le Puy en Velay, 14 km ( 11 Oktober 2021)

 

De tent nat ingepakt en in de nevel heb ik Canada verlaten. In Tournecol op een picknickbank mijn ontbijt genoten in de nabijheid van afvalbakken. Terwijl ik nog aan het eten ben lopen twee Zwitsers voorbij die waarschijnlijk in St JulienChapteuil uit de Gite Etappe komen. Ook op zoek naar een bankje.

Wet packed the tent and in the mist I left Canada. In Tournecol on a picnic bench enjoyed my breakfast in the vicinity of waste bins. While I am still eating two Swiss pass by who probably come from the Gite Etappe in St JulienChapteuil. Also looking for a bench.

 Om 14:00 ben ik op de camping in Le Puy en kan ik mijn tent drogen. Daarna wandel ik door de stad. Ik kan het niet helemaal bevatten dat ik nu in Le Puy ben. Hoe gaat het verder?

At 14:00 I am at the campsite in Le Puy and I can dry my tent. Then I walk through the city. I can't quite believe that I'm in Le Puy right now. How will this adventure continue?
